Startdato
‘Cut through the air. Breathe. Observe the position of your
feet and the flow of thoughts’.

In this workshop, we
will explore the connection between the body, the stick, and the outside. Each
action we take, will shape our perception of the space around us, as well
as our ability to be present
internally and in our interaction with the collective.

The purpose is to
reconnect with our physical foundation, understand and release tensions, and
observe how our feet relate to the ground while finding our own rhythm with the
stick. Additionally, participants will cultivate qualities such as patience,
perseverance, sustained effort, a
search for the essential, and the ability to remain calm.

We will use
Silambattam as our starting point: a martial art from southern India that has
been trained by the facilitator and used as a foundation of her own artistic
path. In
essence, martial arts offer a holistic approach to personal development,
providing individuals with the physical and mental tools necessary to confront
life's challenges with confidence and balance.

During this workshop,
we will embark on a journey of self-discovery and physical exploration,
allowing the stick to guide us towards a deeper understanding of ourselves and
the world around us.

Requirements

Minimum of 3 days
with 2 hours of work each day.

No previous experience required.

A wooden staff for each participant is included in the price.

About the facilitator

Gabriela Arancibia
Villagra is a multidisciplinary artist with considerable experience, primarily
abroad.

In Chile, she
participated in various outdoor and indoor performances and served as a member
of the teaching team at La Máquina del Arte (2014-2017), an institution for
actor training, where she supervised diverse acting training processes. In
the same role, she worked
as an assistant director and spearheaded creative projects.

In 2017, she decided
to travel to Odin Teatret - Nordisk Teaterlaboratorium (Denmark) to join
Ikarus Stage Arts, a performing arts group. With them, she has participated in significant
music and theatre festivals worldwide, where she has excelled as an
actressmusician, assistant director, community worker, and guide for new
artistic processes.

Music has become a fundamental and indivisible part of
her work as an actress, propelling her to evolve as a performer on various
melodic instruments (saxophone, accordion), as well as percussive instruments (djembe,
congas, bells, tambourines, snare and bass drums).

Gabriela has also
undertaken extensive work within the community, including centres for vulnerable
women, refugee centers, schools, nursing homes, and kindergartens. She has developed and led
projects that promote the creation of new connections through theatre.
