What is the Drama Club?

The Drama Club is a creative community
where participants can immerse themselves in all aspects of theatre. Our
journey begins with Module 1, exploring our bodies and the non-verbal
communication. In Module 2 we will focus on presence on stage and creativity.
Module 3, we'll explore the "3 P's of a scene: People, Place, and
Problem". Module 4 is the time to work with text, and finally, in Module
5, we'll create small scenes and potentially perform them for a small audience.

When:
Tuesdays at FO-Aarhus from 18:30 - 20:20

Module 1 -
19, 26/08 & 2/09 - Non-Verbal Communication - Explore the body’s
expressive potential. We will engage in exercises focusing on attention,
listening, rhythm, and connection to overcome fears and language barriers. In a
supportive, judgment-free atmosphere, the participants will learn to let go, embrace
vulnerabilities, and connect with others through physical expression.

Teacher: Marika Rocca

Module 2 -
09, 16 & 23/09 - Exploring presence through movement - What makes an
actor truly present on stage? How can a performer sustain the audience's
interest throughout a performance? These are central questions explored in the
Drama Club module 2, which is thoughtfully designed to lay the foundation for a
successful theater experience. This module will emphasize self-confidence,
trust, and the understanding of the performance space, fellow participants, and
their own abilities.

Teacher: Juliana Appel

Module 3 -
30/09, 07 & 14/10 - Setting the Scene: People, Place, Problem - For
3 weeks we will dive deep into one of the “3 P’s of a Scene: People, Place, and
Problem”. “People” focuses on character development, status &
relationships, and classic character archetypes. “Place” explores spatial
awareness, object work, and using the imaginary environment as inspiration.
“Problem” emphasizes scene structure, objectives & obstacles, and the
journey of conflict resolution.

Teacher: Will Hightower

Module 4 -
21, 28/10 & 04/11 - Scene Study - Let’s dive into scenes from
classic and contemporary authors with the concept that “everything you need is
in the text.”

We’ll reflect on the themes within the
pieces, considering the historical context in which they were written, while
exploring each character’s objectives and their relationships. Through dramatic
readings, individual and group work, we’ll bring these scenes to life.

Teacher: Ofer Ravid

Module 5 -
11, 18, 25/11, 02 & 09/12 - Devising and presentation - In this
module, you will be ready to apply all skills you got from the previous module.
We are going to connect text and bodywork and create small scenes to be
performed on the last day of the workshop.

Teachers: Juliana Appel and Ofer Ravid
